Retina detachment is one of the most serious medical conditions of the visual organ. In the past 10 years the effectiveness of retinal detachments had improved greatly largely thanks to such a surgery as vitrectomy (“vitreum” is vitreous body, “ectomy” is ablation).
Vitrectomy is a surgery on vitreous body to remove cicatrice or pathology affected tissue that cause traction of retina. The ablated vitreous body is replaced with a balanced saline and artificial polymers (silicone oil, gases). Such artificial substance will expand thus nestling up retina against the inner walls of the eye.As a result retina is kept in the normal position preventing recurring intraocular hemorrhage and neogenic pathology vessels growth.
Modern ophthalmosurgery allows to carry out vitrectomy treatment without admission to the hospital. It is a complex surgery, however all of its stages are ensured by the use of modern technology and materials.
