Dry eye syndrome
Dry eyes are very frequent with computer users. They believe there are several reasons for this wide-spread problem:
- more interval between blinks when staring at computer (normal blinking is three times faster);
- wide open eyes, to see displayed images better – this causes faster tear evaporation from the eye surface.
Rules for computer use to reduce the Dry eye syndrome
- Properly position the display (it’s center should be 10-20 cm lower user’s eyes).
- Distance to display should be at least 50 cm.
- Blink oftener when feeling first signs of dry eyes.
- Close your eyes now and then and make a couple of circular movements (rotations).
- Make 2-3 minute breaks, focusing at far objects.
- Visit an ophthalmologist regularly, do not go for self-treatment.
- Use special eye-drops, replacing tears.
- Work at the computer 4 hours a day maximum.
- Make breaks every 20-30 minutes when working at short distances.
